Wasted Effort

Dempster pitched a great game today, only giving up one unearned run in 6 innings. Too bad the Cubs couldn't bring anyone across the plate.

They lost 1-0 to the Padres.

They had a few scoring opportunities but again weren't able to get the clutch hit. Kudos to San Diego pitching on the shutout.

Already I'm hearing the "If Sosa and Alou were here we would've scored a couple of runs".

How many shutouts did we have last year with those two on the team? Oh yeah, 12.

Tomorrow is another day. Prior is scheduled to make his first start. Let's see what happens.
